National U-20 men team coach, John Obuh has promised that Flying Eagles will be stronger and better when the FIFA World Youth Championship kicks off in Turkey in June.
.
Obuh who guided the 2011 AYC champions to a bronze medal finish at the concluded African Youth Championship in Algeria the was work in progress, adding that building a new team and making it strong enough to win trophies is not a tea party.
.
"It takes time, effort and process", Obuh said, stating that he will take a proper look at the team with a view to correcting all identified lapses that hindered it from winning the AYC before the WYC in Turkey.
.
"I don't think the team performed totally badly. Most of the players won majority of the awards at AYC and to me this shows there are still a lot of positives in the team.
.
"We did not win the trophy but at the same time we qualified for the World Cup which is very important.
.
"We should not take anything away from the strength and quality of the competition which even most of the super powers of African football like Cameroon, South Africa and Ivory Coast did not qualify including countries like Argentina and Germany.
.
"When you look at all these you begin to appreciate our qualification".
.
"Obuh added: "Having picked the World Cup ticket I the bronze was a bonus. I'll do the best I can to ensure that Flying Eagles did better in Turkey than we did in Algeria.
.
"I'm willing to do even more. The WYC is about 82 days away and I think we can make the best out of it".
.
There have been critics insinuating the removal of the former Kwara United coach as the gaffer of the U-20 national team but said people should be objective in their criticisms and not hide under sentiments apparently referring to his earlier demand for the settlement of his entitlements.
Let's wait and see if that will happen
