JOB SUMMARY: An Auxiliary Nurse administers skilled nursing care to patients on an intermittent basis in their place of residence. This is performed in accordance with physician orders and plan of care under the direction and supervision of the Director of Clinical Services/Nursing Coordinator.
SALLARY RANGE: 360,000- 540,000 naira per annum.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Auxiliary nurse visits each patient at the place of residence, observing any changes in behaviour or health.
• The Auxiliary nurse also measures vital signs such as temperature, respiration and blood pressure.
• The Auxiliary nurse documents nutritional and liquid intake as much as possible, and provides reminders to the patient about medication.
• The Auxiliary Nurse helps the patient with bathing, washing, grooming and dressing chronic cases. She may assist the patient with eating.
• Light housekeeping in the area she is rendering her nursing care.
• Provide social support and companionship to their clients, who may be completely house-bound and not receive many visitors.
• All information gathered at the visit is finally reported back to the supervising registered nurse at the home health agency.
• Processes orders and notifies physician of patient needs and changes in condition.
