The federal government has restated its promise to provide at least 500,000 units of houses across the country by the year 2016.

She stated that the national housing deficit is presently estimated at 12 to 16 million units and the private sector is key in bridging this gap.
Managing Director, Aso Savings and Loans, Hassan Musa, said the massive housing deficit is an opportunity to pool resources together in achieving the common goal of providing affordable housing for Nigerians.
The Minister of housing promised an enabling environment for private sector participation in the mass housing plan.
The plan to provide a minimum of 500,000 units of housing for Nigerians in four years seems like a tall order but experts at the exhibition agreed that it can be done following some recommendations .
The Aso Housing Exhibition has become one of the biggest housing exhibitions in Nigeria while the conference provides a platform to discuss issues in the sector and arrive at possible solutions.
The exhibition stands were lively as estate developers, building material dealers and architects among others, showcased their products.
