Title: Victor Anichebe Scores As Everton Beat QPR
Post by: Folami David on Apr 13, 2013, 10:03 PM
Nigerian striker, Victor Anichebe scored his sixth league goal of the season on Saturday to help Everton beat Queens Park Rangers 2-0 in the Barclays English Premier League.
.
Anichebe was impressive all afternoon as he worried the QPR backline to no end.
.
The forward came close early in the first half when he headed Leighton Baines' cross from the left just wide off Julio Caesar's right hand post.
.
The former under-23 international came even closer moments after the break as he clattered a right footed shot against the frame of Caesar's post.
.
In fairness Anichebe should have done better as he had lots of time and space to make a decision.
.
He duly made amends in the 56th minute with a goal scored in fortuitous circumstances.
.
Baines whipped over a devilish inswinging corner which Sylvain Distin flicked on towards goal, with Anichebe who smartly turned the ball past Caesar with his outstretched left leg.
.
Anichebe had a difficult start to the season as a result of running battles with niggling injuries.
.
He has since gotten a run of games under his belt and repaid manager David Moyes' faith in him with crucial goals for the Toffees in the business end of the season.
