Karim who was one of the senior ministers in President Wade's administration was said to maned major projects in the country spanning 12 years from energy projects to other major infrastructures. Karim has however been asked to prove his innocence after he was accused of corruption and he has been handed a deadline to do that. And to start that process, his lawyers said they have submitted documents relating to his assets to a courthouse as a dossier of his assets, valued at more than $1b which were filed to the nation's anti-corruption court. Karim's arrest has been hinged as an arbitrary one according to one of his lawyers Demba Cire Bathily who said the younger Wade was whisked away forcefully. The loss of the senior Wade in the presidential election which was held in March 2012 opened up the much awaited opportunities for investigation on financial misappropriation after President Macky Sall vowed to thin out corruption in the francophone country. It was after this that prosecutors announced an investigation into Mr Wade and five other former ministers last year.
