Victor Anichebe believes he is on track to reach double figures in his goal haul for Everton this season.

The Nigerian's close-range second half finish to seal victory against QPR on Saturday was his eighth strike of the campaign.

Anichebe, 25, has previously underlined his intent to notch 10 goals this term, making it his most prolific season yet.

He said: "Sylvain headed the ball across and I managed to poke it in.

"Hopefully I can finish the season with a couple more goals to get to double figures. I feel like I am getting stronger every single game and I feel like the team is getting stronger too."

Everton's victory means they remain contenders to secure European football next term.

"We are going to keep plugging away," continued the striker as he turned his attentions to today's trip to the Emirates.

"QPR have good players but we got the job done at the end of the day.

"We are close to fourth and fifth place and we will keep fighting.
