Residents of Ogun State need to embrace the Community Based Health Insurance Scheme (CBHIS) to enable them access qualitative service by contributing a token as premium. Commissioner for Health in the State, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka made this call at the State Hospital, Isara-Remo while declaring open a 3-day free medical and surgical mission organized by the State Hospitals Management Board in collaboration with a USA based Non-Governmental Organization Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health, Dr. Olaolu Lawson, Soyinka said that the mission was a fulfillment of the State government's pledge to take healthcare delivery to all nook and crannies, assuring that it would continue to create unfettered access to efficient healthcare delivery service. He advised the people not to wait till ailments become life-threatening before seeking medical attention and urged them to take advantage of the free medical and surgical treatment, encouraging them to always patronize General and State Hospitals already equipped by government to provide healthcare services. The Commissioner recalled that recently hundreds of health workers consisting of medical and non-medical were recruited to increase manpower, noting that they had been exposed to orientation workshops to enhance productivity. Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health Administration, Mrs. Foluke Bello had observed that the free treatment was another effort of government to bring dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people. In her remark, the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Oyin Sodipe charged the people of Isara-Remo and its environs to mobilize other members of their community to benefit from the free treatment. Also speaking, a representative of the NGO, Mrs. Olamide Lawson lauded the government for its mission to rebuild the State, saying that it was one of the reasons her group decided to partner with it.
