Former national U-23 team assistant coach, Stanley Eguma, has expressed shock over the Golden Eaglets' 1-0 defeat in the hands of Cote d'Ivoire's Junior Elephants in their second game of the CAF U-17 Championship holding in Morocco.

The Dolphins of Port Harcourt manager said the defeat could have been as a result of complacency and urged the entire team to work harder before they play Congo in their last group game on Saturday.

"It is one of the things that happen in football, but it is painful that the team lost to Cote d'Ivoire. It is their first defeat since they came together and it is very painful," says the dark complexioned coach.

Eguma however advised Coach Manu Garba to ensure that all the mistakes the players made in Wednesday's game are corrected before they play Congo on Saturday.

"The coach is highly experienced and I am sure that he knows what to do. He should also try as much as possible to correct all the mistakes they made against Cote d'Ivoire."

The Golden Eaglets defeated Ghana 6-1 in their opening game and will need an outright win or at least a draw over Congo to remain in the driver's seat of the group B log and secure a place in the semi- finals as well as seal their World Cup ticket.
We hope they do that in their game against Congo tomorrow. Let us just hope the goals come this time around. But we have to be very careful...
