Context : – Based on more than 15 years' experience in microfinance, HORUS created Advans with several major international Development Finance Institutions. The mission of Advans is to build a network of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in developing and emerging countries to cater to the financial needs of micro, small, and medium sized enterprises, which have limited or no access to formal banking services. The Advans network currently spans eight countries: Cambodia, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan and Tanzania. Advans MFIs serve more than 375,000 clients from 133 branches and have an outstanding loan portfolio of more than EUR 150 million. La Fayette Microfinance Bank currently has 2 branches in Ibadan. – Advans has strong development objectives. In the context of Advans group's dynamic development, HORUS is recruiting a Deputy Chief Operating Officer for La Fayette MFB. – The 18-month assignment is based in Ibadan and starts immediately.
Role/Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer and with the support of Horus' head-office, the Deputy COO is mainly responsible for commercial functions such as identifying and proposing new products/services, overall supervision of the branch network and development of branch portfolio in accordance with set targets.
His main responsibilities include:
• Assisting in the overall organization of the Operations Department;
• Setting up required organization, policies and processes for branch and network management with the Operations team;
• Organizing market studies, competitive monitoring and field surveys for the definition and implementation of new financial products and services;
• Supporting development and implementation of communication strategy;
• Coordinating network development: supervising branch network expansion in the country and ensuring business objectives are met;
• Assisting in recruitment of local staff and ensuring training, knowledge transfer and coaching to develop local staff skills.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
• Degree in Management/Finance/Banking/Economics;
• Fluency in English;
• At least 5 years' experience, ideally in commercial positions in financial institutions;
• Knowledge of microfinance is desirable;
• Excellent communication, management and marketing skills;
• Results-oriented and self-motivated;
• Intercultural sensitivity, stress resistant and resilient.
