Seattle Sounders head coach, Sigi Schmid has offered words of praise for Nigerian striker, Obafemi Martins following his goal scoring heroics on Saturday.

Obagoal netted after 27 minutes to give the Sounders a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids in the Major League Soccer (MLS).

Sounders had yet to win in five previous attempts this season and the Nigerian now appears to be the shot in the arm required by his side; a fact not lost on the suitably impressed Schmid.

"Our fans can see what he (Martins) brings to the table. Every time we see the (customary) back flip, I know we scored so I'm not worried," he said.

Obagol failed to finish the game against Colorado as he was substituted in the 61st minute with Mauro Rosales taking his place.

However, the former Inter Milan striker is now a heavy favourite to return to the Sounders first team when they square up against Philadelphia Union at the PPL Park on May 4.

The 28-year-old has played 39 times for Nigeria netting 18 times.

He was recently left out of (Nigeria head coach) Stephen Keshi's 30-man-squad for June's busy programme of world cup qualifiers and the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup.

He recently told supersport.com that: "If (Keshi) invites me (to come play for Nigeria), I would come. If not, I will stay at my club,".
Obafemi Martins is a player coaches will always find very useful so i expect them to always cherish his skills
