The Ambassador of Turkey to Nigeria Mustapha Palat has revealed his desire to meet Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Amokachi.
.
Palat, a self confessed football fan, said at the weekend during the 3rd Nigerian Turkish Friendship and Cultural Festival, that he was a huge admirer of the former Nigerian international forward and would not mind travelling to Kaduna to actualize the mission.
.
The envoy, who was only posted to Nigeria this month and waiting to present his letter of credence to President Goodluck Jonathan, likened Amokachi to a rock music sensation, who was a big hit in Turkey during his spell for Besiktas Istanbul in the 1990s.
.
''Amokachi was a former player of my favourite club, Besiktas Istanbul and it is my wish to see him in Abuja or Kaduna," Palat said.
.
He similarly recalled the impact made in Turkey by two other outstanding former Nigerian internationals, Austin Jay Jay Okocha and Uche Okechukwu, who both played for rival city club, Fenebarche.
.
Ambassador Palat, who was a former Consul General of Turkey in Germany, revealed such was his passion for football that he could have become a footballer as wished by his father. He said he had to drop the career line because of the objection of his mother.
.
He also tipped the Flying Eagles of Nigeria as one of the favourites to win the FIFA U-20 that holds in Turkey in June because Nigeria is a major force in football.
