Rafael Benitez refused to be drawn on the 10-game
ban imposed on Liverpool striker Luis Suarez on
Wednesday for biting the Chelsea manager's Serbian
defender Branislav Ivanovic.
.
Suarez was handed the heavy suspension by the
Football Association in response to an incident during
Sunday's 2-2 draw at Anfield in the Premier League
in which the Uruguayan appeared to sink his teeth
into Ivanovic's arm.
.
Benitez refused to discuss the incident at the time
and he was similarly reluctant to give an opinion on
what had happened when he was asked to comment
on Thursday.
.
"We know that was wrong and after, the decision it is
not something we can say too much (about)," he
said.
.
Asked whether Ivanovic had suffered any ill-effects
from the incident, Benitez replied: "He's fine."
.
The Spaniard was speaking prior to his side's Europa
League semifinal first-leg match against Swiss side
FC Basle on Thursday.
.
Suarez has until 1100GMT on Friday to decide
whether or not to appeal against his suspension for
violent conduct.
I just hope Liverpool wont try to appeal the ban cos that would be prolonging issues. They should just accept their fate
