Title: NGGTour: FERMA Office Zamfara to run Quality Assurance lab.

(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/DSC_0038-300x199.jpg)                        The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in line with its mandate is soon to fully complete the construction of its Field Office in Gusau, Zamfara State.

Briefing members of the National Good Governance Tour at the project site as the Tour of the State commenced Thursday, Engr. Adamu Labbogulme an official of the Agency said the Field Office is to have its own Laboratory.

"The Laboratory at the office is key in ensuring that materials used in road maintenance such as bitumen, asphalt, among other materials are of the best standard", Engr. Labbogulme explained.

He listed other components of the project to consist of a warehouse, generator house, borehole, overhead water tank, waste disposal house and administrative building.

The FERMA official further informed that the project was awarded at the cost of 244,677, 308.40 naira and that work commenced on 18th March, 2011.

He said the field office complex is a permanent office where all FERMA maintenance of Federal roads in the state will be coordinated from adding that the idea of constructing the permanent office complex was conceived by the management as a result of office accommodation challenges faced by the Agency and the determination to carry out effective maintenance of federal roads in Zamfara State.

Federal Controller of Works, Zamfara State, Engr. John Enetomhe said FERMA also has road camps across the country where it carries out its operations and parks its earth-moving equipment. This was in response to an observation raised by the S.A to the Minister of Information, Mr. Kingsley Osadalor that the premises appears small to accommodate the earth-moving machines.

The contract is being handled by ASHMAL Unique Services Ltd while the project

Architect is Gimba and Partners and Plump Line Ltd is the structural engineer.

The Project is 90 percent complete.

Here are some of the Federal Roads being handled by FERMA in Zamfara: Shinkafi-Route 222, Zurm-Route 20, T/Mafara-Route 85, Anka-Route 209, Mainchi-Route 85, Gusau-Route 85, Gummi-Route 209, Dansadau-Route-218 and Dangulbi-Route-218 among others.
