The Special Adviser to the Governor on Water Resources, Engr. Tawakalitu Williams; said this while speaking at the on-going quarterly ministerial press briefing organised by the Ministry of Information and Strategy in Osogbo, the state capital. He disclosed that the new system was necessary in order to ensure accountability in the payment of water bills. He added that the system would help to improve on the state's Internal Generated Revenue (IGR). Engineer Williams said "the E-payment system has considerably served as a check for fraudulent activities blocking monies that should be remitted to the purse of government". The special Adviser on Water Resources explained that though the system is at its teething period, it is believed that over time, people will be familiar with it and payment of water rates will become much easier. She then advised the consumers in the state to visit the designated banks for payment of water rate and pay promptly as the water schemes can be effectively maintained when the consumers fulfill their civic duties.
