Efforts of the Ogun State Government to render qualitative health care service to residents today got a boost as a Non-Governmental Organisation from the United States of America donated drugs and hospital equipment worth $400,000 to the State’s Hospitals Management Board. Receiving the equipment at the Drug Central Store, Oke-Ilewo, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health Matters, Dr. Jibola Amosu, said they would be distributed to the General and Specialist hospitals as well as Primary Health Care Centres across the 20 Local Government Areas. Thanking the donor for the equipment which included ultra scan and X-ray machines, Dr. Amosun stated that they are state-of-the art equipment, saying that more were still being expected from the donor. He enjoined other public spirited organisations to take a cue Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Oyin Sodipe, said the development would go a long way in enhancing diagnosis and health care delivery in the State and urged hospitals that would benefit from the gesture to take good care of them so that they would serve the people for long. Meanwhile, the Senator Ibikunle Amosun administration has been given a pat on the back for taking steps that had turned around the fortunes of the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu. The acting Chief Medical Director, Dr. Adetunji Ajibode who gave the commendation while conducting newsmen round facilities of the hospital, indicated that quite a number of positive changes had taken place since the present administration assumed office. Ajibode stated that the development was the driving force which had been propelling his management team to embark on programmes which had greatly improved service delivery. He added that this had helped reduce the incidence of industrial action, pointing out that his workers had proven to be partners in progress always ready to render efficient and effective tertiary healthcare service to patients.
