THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has altered the timetable for the 2011 general elections.
The National Assembly poll earlier rescheduled for April 4 is now to hold on April 9 while the presidential election has been shifted to April 16.
The governorship and state house of assemblies will take place on Tuesday, April 26.
A statement on Sunday by INEC Secretary, Abdullahi Kaugama, which contained the changes, however thanked Nigerians for their enthusiasm and support for the Commission and the electoral process, stating that "your sacrifices are not lost on the Commission and we are even more determined now to ensure that the 2011 elections are free, fair and credible."
