Pro-Chancellor commends Governor Fayemi
The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi has been commended for his unprecedented investment and attention given to the State owned University,( EKSU) by becoming the first Governor to give the University Capital Grants since University education came to Ekiti. Emeritus, Professor Akinjide Osuntokun made the assertion while delivering a speech at the 18th Convocation Ceremonies of the University. Professor Osuntokun who is the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the Ekiti State University described education as the most sought after commodity in Ekiti State and that people were looking up to the State owned university to influence the society and proffer solutions to socio-economic and political needs of Ekiti State. The Pro-Chancellor added that in its quest to build a first class university in Ado-Ekiti. the university as a community of scholars recently engaged in a 2-day workshop of Strategic Planning with the sole idea of using available resources to actualize her goals, vision and mission. He added that the University was going through a tremendous turn around in areas of infrastructure and man power development. Professor Akinjide noted that construction work was ongoing to have medical buildings which will make the College of Medicine in the University a first-class. Emeritus Professor Osuntokun expressed the determination of the University's leadership to create accommodation for Staff and Students to promote the University civility and learning culture. The 18th Convocation Ceremonies of the Ekiti State University had in attendance representatives of universities across the country and the National Universities Commission. Adebayo representing the Vice-Chancellor, Redeemers University; Prof. A. S. Olorundare, for the Vice-Chancellor University of Ilorin; Prof. Tolulope Akinbogun standing in for Vice-Chancellor Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA); Mrs. Francisca Aladejana, Provost, College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti; Prof. Akanara Essien, representative of National Universities Commission; Prof. Christian Bolu from Federal University Oye (FOUYE); Dr. Yakabu Muhamad, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin), Ibrahim Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State; Mr. Salau Oladepo Ag. Executive Secretary, TetFund and Mrs. Maryam Babatunde from TetFund.
