Scholarship Description: The Wes Bowen Scholarship is for students who want online multimedia production experience and a portfolio artifact that can be used to further their careers. Award winners will gain real-world experience in journalism and teamwork, as well as experience in reporting, writing, editing and producing long-form journalism, magazine length creative work investigating issues of concern to the SLCC campus community. Recipients will publish their independent work once per semester in an online magazine-type format, connected to the online Globe newspaper. This work will include both print and other forms of media; that is, students will write the text article, and also write a multimedia broadcast-type story, working with other scholarship recipients and possibly other COMM students. The award will be applied to the student's tuition account.
