(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/DSC_01021-300x199.jpg) Sequel to the completion of the Bakori-Guga-Kakumi Road in Katsina State after about 5 decades of yearning from communities along the road, the people of the area are now benefiting from health facilities, increased agricultural and trade activities as well as ease of access to neighboring states, the State Government has said.
The road has a total length of 32 kilometers and was awarded in 2011 at the cost of N1,774, 953, 291.02k and completed in 2012. The road which was constructed by MOTHERCAT Ltd links over 15 communities in the state.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Katsina State, Engr. Rabiu Ibrahim who briefed members of the National Good Governance Tour at a section of the road said the Governor, Dr. Ibrahim Shema had put smiles on the faces of people of the state particularly those of the area who he said have been yearning for the road for over 50 years.
"This road also serves as an alternative linkage to Kaduna, Abuja and beyond. Though the road has no bridge it however has several culverts.
"The project because it is situated in a waterlogged area. Some how after the concession of the road traffic has improved on the road, a lot of economic activities have also increased. We also noted that due to the concession of the road a lot of facilities have arrived. We have so many health facilities, rural electrification projects, schools among others", the Permanent Secretary added.
