AUST participated in the 2012-2013 Google Student Ambassador Programme (GSAP) in Sub Saharan Africa. Two of AUST students, Ufouma Bright Ighoroje (PhD Computer Science) and Kiemute Oyibo (MSc Computer Science), were some of the succesful applicants that participated in the 4-day Google Students Ambassador Summit in Nairobi, Kenya. The summit was a flag-off of the 2012/2013 GSAP, which had over 148 students from over 100 universities accross Sub-Saharan Africa participating in the event. The aim of the GSAP is to have on-the-ground student ambassadors who will act as the link between Google Apps for Education (GAFE) and other innovative Google products and services among students, faculty and staff. Such applications include Google Calendar, Google Book, Google Doc, Gmail, to mention but a few. The summit was an exciting and educative event, as our students had the opportunity of meeting, interacting and sharing experiences with other African students from the other side of the continent. The event was a great eye-opener for them as they took part in hands-on training in some of Googles social networking and educational applications such as Google Map Maker, Google Scholar, Google Plus and Google Talk.(http://aust-abuja.org/files/thumb/170/0)
