(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DSC_0011-300x199.jpg) In its commitment to provide better roads for the people, the Katsina State Government says it is committing the total sum of about 4.7 billion naira to rehabilitate the Mashi-Mani-Ingawa-Kankia road.
The Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Katsina State, Arc. Mustapha Maikudi Kankia said "Already, the Shema Government has paid 3.6 billion naira" for the road.
"The last certificate on this project is being processed. This road is practically completed except for road markings. It is 98 percent completed and the contractor (Mothercat Nig. Ltd.) was able to finish the 16 months contract in 9 months", Arc. Kankia pointed out.
He also said the road construction was initially started and finished by a previous administration as a surface road about 30 years ago. "Over the years it has served its purpose but started showing signs of stress. On coming on board, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Katsina State decided that this road would be rehabilitated and upgraded from road surface to an asphalt overlay road", he explained.
The Commissioner further informed that the road "is 112 kilometers and covers 6 local governments" adding that "It is the major link between Funtua and Daura Senatorial Districts".
Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku who commended the quality of the road said he was particularly impressed with the speedy execution of the project by Mother Cat construction.
"They saved 7 months, that shows a lot of seriousness. We are very impressed. This is the kind of story we want to hear", stated the Minister.
