The President identified the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) as a strong voice that has not in any way compromised its stand on any issue that bothers on the development of the country. He called on the labour union not to relent. Earlier the President of the NLC, Comrade Abdulwaheed Umar had taken on the Jonathan administration on the issues of corruption, unemployment and insecurity describing the pardon it granted a former governor who enriched himself with Nigerian money as unfortunate.  On security in the land the labour leaders called on members of Boko Haram sect to accept the amnesty offer by the federal government saying that the destruction of Nigeria offers no way forward for anyone.
