Swansea City have reacted to an outbreak of measles in south Wales by getting their players innoculated, officials from the Premier League club revealed on Wednesday.

Over 1 000 cases of the disease have been diagnosed in the region and health officials say that around 5 000 local young people still need vaccinations.

As a result, League Cup winners Swansea have taken no chances, innoculating both their multi-million- pound (dollar, euro) first-team players and members of the club's youth academy.

"Given that the club is in the outbreak zone, we had a thorough check of which players had not received their second jabs," said a spokesman.

"We're not in a position to say who or how many received the innoculation, but I can confirm that all players and officials in the club are now up to date."

Swansea captain Garry Monk recently revealed that his two-year-old daughter had been vaccinated.

He urged parents: "You should make sure you do everything you can to give your children the best chance.

"Getting them vaccinated is one way forward, which I would encourage."
All they need now is utmost concentration in the English Premier League. They do not need distractions like this
