Title: Flying Eagles Get Ogu Boost
Post by: Folami David on May 02, 2013, 10:20 AM
Academica de Coimbra's Nigerian midfielder John Ogu completed his first full training session with his teammates this evening at the Academia Dolce Vita training ground ahead of this weekend's Primeria Liga clash against Victoria Setubal.
.
The Nigerian international who has been out for three weeks after he underwent a minor surgery on his left knee to extract liquids there was delighted to have completed the session without any complications.
.
"It feels great being back in the team and for the fact that I felt no pains whatsoever on my knee," he said.
.
"Not 100% though but I'd be fully fit in the coming days for my team and most especially the Eagles crucial qualifiers next month,"he added.
.
Academica have sorely missed the former Almeria and NK Drava's presence in the team's midfield and his return will naturally give the whole squad a boost going into the final stages of the season despite losing their last three games.
.
Ogu who made a cameo appearance in his debut game for the Super Eagles in last month's 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Kenya in Calabar also issued a stern warning to the Harambee Stars of Kenya that the Eagles won't cut corners to win all three points in Nairobi.
.
"I think we played our best against them in Calabar and we still have a great chance of showing more of what we've got against them because they will also come out to attack unlike their approach in Calabar," he noted.
