AFCON hero Sunday Mba will now have to wait beyond this weekend to make his Enugu Rangers debut according to a top Enugu State official.

Rangers have claimed Mba will because of "national interest" feature in this weekend's CAF Champions League clash against Recreativo Libolo in Angola.

But Enugu State FA chairman Chidi Ofor Okenwa has now stated Mba will not be ready for Rangers action this weekend in Angola.

Okenwa, who was instrumental in the settling of Chigozie Agbim's transfer saga from Warri Wolves, has been in Abuja since last week to resolve the Mba stalemate.

"I can confirm to you that talks have reached an advanced stage and by next weekend Sunday Mba would be free to play for Rangers," Okenwa informed MTNFootball.com.

"We are having a family discussion with Warri Wolves right now, I can assure Nigerians that it has been straightened out and Mba will be free to play for Rangers by next week."

On how much Rangers are paying for the embattled midfielder Okenwa simply said, "It's not in my place to negotiate for Rangers and as such I cannot confirm how much Warri Wolves are demanding for Mba.

"But it's not about the money now, it's the future and career of the player that matters."
