Post by: HuffingtonPost on May 05, 2013, 02:31 AM
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said three witnesses will testify Wednesday on the 2012 terrorist attack (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/27/benghazi-attack-libyan-wi_n_2032005.html) on the American diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya.

State Department officials Gregory Hicks, Mark Thompson and Eric Nordstrom were identified as the "whistleblowers (http://thehill.com/blogs/global-affairs/middle-east-north-africa/297789-three-state-department-whistleblowers-to-testify-next-week-on-benghazi)" who will testify on the Benghazi attack (http://huffingtonpost.menshealthmags.com/2012/09/12/libya-attack-obama_n_1876749.html) that left U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead.

The Hill reports (http://thehill.com/blogs/global-affairs/middle-east-north-africa/297789-three-state-department-whistleblowers-to-testify-next-week-on-benghazi):

The House Oversight Committee identified the three witnesses as Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli during the attack; Mark Thompson, the deputy coordinator for operations in the agency's Counterterrorism Bureau; and Eric Nordstrom, a diplomatic security officer who was the top security officer in the country in the months leading up to the attacks.

I applaud these individuals for answering our call to testify in front of @gopoversight (https://twitter.com/gopoversight) re: #benghazi (https://twitter.com/search/%23benghazi) bit.ly/12B9fF3 (http://t.co/zInmC5aPfq)

These witnesses have critical info about what occurred in #Benghazi (https://twitter.com/search/%23Benghazi) terrorist attacks that differs from what Admin officials have portrayed.

In a statement, Issa said the three men have "critical information about what occurred before, during, and after the Benghazi terrorist attacks that differs on key points from what Administration officials...have portrayed."

Republicans have continually pressed (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/30/republicans-benghazi_n_3188181.html?utm_hp_ref=politics) President Barack Obama over the attack, with some lawmakers even suggesting the administration is trying to cover up more serious negligence surrounding the incident.

On May 1, the FBI released photos (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/01/benghzai-attack-fbi-photos-released-3-men-us-consulate-libya_n_3195464.html?utm_hp_ref=world) of three men it wants to question in relation to the attack. Two days later, Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry led a memorial service (http://huffingtonpost.menshealthmags.com/huff-wires/20130503/us-us-slain-diplomats/) honoring those killed in Benghazi.
