Key Responsibilities:
Job Purpose:
?Practicing Sales the 'Safmarine Way' and in line with Safmarine strategy 'W1nning Edge'
?To grow Safmarine`s presence in the import market, deliver budgeted volumes and revenues and offer the best customer proposition for existing and future clients.
?Responsible for new and existing business in an assigned territory with a primary focus on developing new accounts, maintaining targeted accounts to meet/ exceed sales and performance goals
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Grow Safmarine customer database by 50% compared with existing portfolio, all sales activities to be reported in Salesforce
• Plan customer visits for the week ahead
• Perform a minimum of 12 quality sales visits and generate 5 sales leads weekly. 70% of visits to be concentrated on new customers and 30% on existing customers.
• Follow up on sales visits performed to ensure business is sealed
• Weekly report on sales activities including new businesses generated, bookings received and plans for coming week.
Meeting sales target and volume / revenue commitments in line with budget
• Develop marketing plans for import customers to identify/ ensure growth of volumes as per target. Maintain sales contact with existing customers in your portfolio
• Monitor overseas loadings and steer performance of origins
• Build and maintain relationship with origin sales offices exchanging information on market, applicable rates and ideas on how to increase volumes into Nigeria.
Support inside sales team
• All sales lead generated weekly must be passed onto inside sales for follow-up with origin offices
• Follow-up on lost accounts identified by inside sales during quarterly concession review
• Active participation of customers within your portfolio in Safmarine customer survey
• Be open-minded and profer solutions/ ideas to make Safmarine a regional specialist in Nigeria/ Africa
Report to management, any structural or long lasting sign of short performance, lack of focus or lack of response.
Outstanding Freight/ Longstanding containers
• Cash is King. Address with clients within your portfolio any issues of outstanding invoices, workout and propose settlements
Any other functions given to be handled as the need arises.
Generally:
• Truly understand your customer business and be creative/ innovative when proffering solutions to their challenges thereby making Safmarine a preferred carrier of choice
• Handle customer's complaints and ensure corrective actions are initiated, thus preventing that same mistakes happen again.
• Inter and Intra department relationship – especially with back-office counter and Manifest team (Customer service team)
• Attend to mail communications (Lotus and Outlook) within the time period as directed by Safmarine – Ensure prompt/ effective communication and ensure clear differentiation between internal correspondence and external correspondence (clients – overseas agents)
Decision Making Authority/Approval/Authorization Level:
• To be decided & delegated when necessary by import manager/country manager
Challenge of the job/problem solving:
• Sound knowledge of Safmarine's products and network
• Very high degree of service mindedness required
• Very developed communication skills required
• Timely response to issues arising ensuring corrective measures are initiated.
• Safmarine brand recognition amongst customers and colleagues by 'living the brand'
Special Assignment:
• 3 initiatives that would reduce agency cost and/ or improve existing processes
Contact with others:
• Internal: Your colleagues in Maersk Line (sales, customer service, documentation, release counter, operations etc), and Safmarine (Cluster)
• External: APMT, APMTIS, DAMCO, overseas agents, customers locally and overseas.
Who we are looking for
Knowledge & Qualifications:
• Sound understanding of shipping and logistics industry.
Knowledge of systems required:
• Superior working knowledge of Excel.
