(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Chinedu-Nebo-Minister-of-Power-300x200.jpg) The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo has charged staff of his Ministry to become cathedral builders and not self-centred individuals, by supporting government efforts in ensuring that President Jonathan's Transformation Agenda is on course and in full gear.
The Minister, who spoke while addressing the middle cadre staff of his Ministry, at one of his regular interactions with staff, said that a high level of professionalism and commitment to performance is expected from them at this critical time, as history will judge their contribution in the nation's quest for uninterrupted power supply.
He stated that the challenges in the power sector was age-long, which had proved difficult to surmount over the years, but with renewed determination and tenacity of purpose on the part of the staff to align with Government's efforts, solution is at the corner.
According to the Minister, the power sector is so strategic to the nation's industrial revolution, poverty alleviation, youth empowerment and the growth of enterprises; hence it requires that all hands must be on deck, adding that the sector is as important as it holds the key to the nation's economic emancipation.
He therefore, urged them to shun the Nigerian factor exemplified by corruption, laziness, rumour mongering and truancy, emphasizing that they should embrace the virtues of hard work, honesty and diligence. "Those who live sacrificial lives, leave their imprints on the sands of time; while those who live for themselves, die unto themselves", he stated.
The Minister who further described the task of turning the power sector around as a daunting one, however, stressed that the problems are not insurmountable.
On the task ahead, the meeting set a target of providing electricity 24/7 to Nigerians which has been handed over by Mr. President as part of the pact with the Nigerian people, the Minister described the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Godknows Igali as an experienced technocrat who would take the sector to greater heights.
He stated that, it is people like Dr. Godknows Igali that the Ministry needs at a time like this, as they would ensure a turnaround in the sector.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Amb. Dr. Godknows Igali stated that all eyes were on the Ministry at this point in time, adding that the revolution that is about to take place in the sector is going to be unimaginable, just as he assured that the Ministry on its part would support the Minister and Minister of State in the onerous task given to them by Mr. President.
