Per Mertesacker is uncertain if he will watch Wednesday's London derby between Chelsea and Spurs at Stamford Bridge which could impact on Arsenal's top-four fate.
.
The Gunners defender helped keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over QPR on Saturday evening but was unaware that Spurs had beaten Southampton earlier in the day to temporarily change the complexion of the quest to qualify for the Champions.
.
Theo Walcott's strike inside the first minute at Loftus Road kept up the Gunners' end of the bargain, while yesterday's 1-0 win for Chelsea at champions Manchester United moved the Blues to third and saw Arsenal slip to fourth.
.
With the German defender's side having played a game more than their capital rivals, they will now await the result of the midweek battle in SW6.
.
"We have to wait and see what happens on Wednesday," Mertesacker said.
.
"We have to win, anyway, both the games that are coming. At the moment we're on a good run, but we have still to focus on ourselves.
.
"We can't drop any points. That is the most important thing for us. What happens on Wednesday is not in our hands."
.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger added: "We have to go to the end and win our games. We can get 73 points.
.
"We have a good chance [of Champions League qualification] if we get 73 points to be there."
The game would be a very tensed one Arsenal fans today. Thank God my Manchester United did not put their fans in this type of tight corner.
They should just keep their cool and focus on their own remaining games so that should be their utmost priority now.
