Nigeria head coach, Stephen Keshi, has told supersport.com that he is happy with Bright Dike's progress after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament earlier this year.

The Portland Timbers forward is expected to return to competitive football around August this year after he underwent surgery in February.

Though the Major League Soccer (MLS) club did not specify a time frame for Dike's return, Super Eagles gaffer, Keshi, has expressed satisfaction with the player's path to recovery.

"I've found out about the progress of Bright Dike and got in touch with him. He's doing pretty well and recovering from his injury well too. It is unfortunate that it's a long-term injury and I hope he recovers and become an even better player," said the 51-year- old Nigerian trainer.

"Yes he will still get his chance in the team when he recovers fully and if he returns to good form."

Dike scored five goals in 12 games for Timbers in 2012 but suffered the ligament injury a game against Seattle Sounders in February this year.

The 26-year-old striker has made two appearances for Nigeria and has scored once against Catalonia in a friendly match on January 2.
