(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Bore-hole-Nger-delta-300x199.jpg) A Solar borehole water project executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for the people of Ohaji /Egbema Local Government Area has been commissioned.
The 2000 liters capacity, 46 fetching points borehole project was commissioned in Opoma community in Egbema by the Senator representing Imo West in the National Assembly, Senator Chief Hope Uzodinma (Onwu).
Hope Uzodinma who performed the ceremony for the project, stated that the project would go a long way to reduce the agonies the people undergo in search of portable drinking water as well as boost development in the area.
Senator Uzodinma described the Niger Delta Development Commission as an agent of development instituted by the Federal Government for rapid development of the people of the Niger Delta region. He advised the people of Opoma to secure the project now that it has been commissioned and handed over to them. He added that he would leave no stone unturned in ensuring adequate security of the project.
The commissioner representing Imo State in the Niger Delta Development Commission Board, Barrister Peter Ezeobi thanked Senator Uzodinma for commissioning the project.
He enumerated other NDDC projects in the area, adding that NDDC would not relent in carrying out its duty of developing the Niger Delta.
Barrister Ezeobi urged the people of Ohaji/Egbema to cooperate with contractors executing projects so as to attract more projects to the area.
A community leader in Opoma, Chief Celestine Uwakwe thanked the NDDC for citing the water project in the area, describing it as a demonstration of government's preparedness to uplift the lives of rural dwellers. Chief Celestine promised that the people of Opoma would be watchful over the projects cited in their community.
