Title: Commissioner Laments Increase Of Asthma Prevalence

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris has lamented the increase in  asthma disease around the world, especially as communities adopt western lifestyles and become urbanized.

The Commissioner who made the observation weekend in a speech delivered  on his behalf by Dr. Longe Jemilade, Director, Disease Control, Lagos State Ministry of Health in a workshop. organised by the Elias Nelson Oyedokun Foundatio (ENOF) at Illupeju, Lagos to mark World Asthma Day and also in memory of late Nelson Oyedokun, a 13-year-old boy who died from asthma,  disclosed that an estimated 300 million people worldwide. are suffering from asthma with children constituting a reasonable percentage of those afflicted.

Consequently, experts who delivered papers in the workshop tagged, "You Can Control Your Asthma," have called on both the public and private sectors to create a conducive work environment.
