Job Title: Outside-Plant Engineer (OSP)

Reporting Line: Manager, Outside Plant (OSP)
Responsibilities:
The OSP Engineer will be responsible for maintaining construction activities at the various OSP sites, and all operation and maintenance of all MOCC fibre cable working on the entire Network. Other responsibilities shall include the following:
• Ensure all fiber cable activities such as Laying of Fibers, Construction of Ducts, Calibrations of ducts, Fiber Testing, Fiber Termination/Splicing, Route patrol/protection are carried out
• Troubleshoot and resolve fibre network faults within the stipulated SLA time.
• Carry out splicing of customers' fiber cables or supervise sub-contractors on splicing at the manholes and the POPs.
• Carry out route survey for fibre infrastructure implementation and producing route survey reports and drawings
• Generate BoQ for all surveyed fibre connections in line with survey report and Main One fibre build rates.
• Produce survey drawings, plan and prepare drawings for building new infrastructure and repairs of existing fibre infrastructure to achieve obtain optimum utilisation.
• Analyze fibre utilisation, and estimate or forecast projected traffic to determine new construction or rearrangements and removals required
• Select routing of lines and equipment required for work projects.
• Prepare detailed construction and installation drawings, estimate equipment, labor, and material costs.
• Prepare project timelines, prepare and track budgets and provide detailed weekly status reports
• Direct emergency restoration and mitigation activities required for the OSP network. This could include fiber optic damages, power failures and other events
• Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Supervision: To work directly with the OSP Manager

Demands of the Job:
• Ability and willingness to work round the clock when required, and meet tight deadlines;
• Ability to travel within and out of the country at short notice.
Qualification: B.Sc or B.Tech in Engineering, with min of 2 active years in OSP development and management.
