Title: Nasarawa State Government assures citizens of safety of lives and properties.

The Nasarawa State Government has assured Nigerians of safety for lives and properties in the state. The State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura made the pledge during the state security meeting held at the Government House in Lafia recently. He said that the meeting was necessary in order to tackle the latest ugly situation which claimed the lives of many Police officers and other security agencies in the State.

According to him, security personnel in the state have shown diligence in overcoming security challenges and death which has occasioned the mistreated officers is unfortunate. He noted that peace is panacea for development and assured the sustenance of harmony in the State.

Umaru Tanko Al-makura urged all citizens in the state to go about their normal businesses, adding that adequate security has been on ground. He promised that government will do everything possible to bring the perpetrators of the crime to order.

In the same hint, the AIG in charge of the Zone 4 Police Division in Makurdi, Benue State, Michael Zuokorokuror averred that the Nigerian Police has the responsibility to protect the lives and properties of indigenes and residents of Nasarawa State. He explained that the decision of the Police to deploy  its officers towards ensuring the protection of lives and properties of people in Alakio village followed from frequent reports of the activities of youth soldiers organised by a person who was suspected to be a leader of a cult group popularly called "Ombatse" in Alakio village.
