(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/mdg-logo3-300x224.jpg) The Niger state Government has been commended for its support towards the successful implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) projects across the State.
The chairman, House of Representatives' Committee on MDGs, Alhaji Alhassan Ado Doguwa made the commendation when he led other members of the committee on oversight function to the State.
Alhaji Alhassan Doguwa said they were in Niger State to inspect MDGs' projects at the instance of the State Governor, Dr. Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu.
Doguwa told the Governor that they were impressed with the quality and number of projects executed, especially in the area of health, education, water supply, youth and Women empowerment.
The chairman revealed that MDGs' programmes would terminate by 2015 and called on State Governors to source funds to sustain the programme and solicited the commitment of private sectors and other stakeholders because of the importance of the programme to nation building.
He disclosed that over a billion dollar has so far been committed to MDGs' projects across the State.
Responding, Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu thanked the Committee for the visit and appealed to the members to continue to advice the government on the area of improvement.
Babangida Aliyu said his administration accepted all the intervention programmes as well as settlement of its counterpart funding with a view to developing the State, eradicating poverty and create jobs for the youths.
On security and nation building, the Governor advised that the National Assembly members should look into the issue of creating State Police, Petroleum Industry Bill and urged them to join hands with President Goodluck to be able to succeed.

The governor of that state has done well for that state so far. He deserves every commendation he is getting now. Kudos!
