Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio has endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan's declaration of emergency rule in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, saying it will go a long way to bring back peace to both the trouble states and the country at large.
Akpabio, who saluted Jonathan's courage at taking the decision, however, noted that contrary to the impression created in the media, there was no time the governors ever met to deliberate on emergency rule.
He said it was, therefore, wrong for anybody to say that the governors forum had agreed to oppose the emergency rule if it was proclaimed. According to him, anybody who said the NGF agreed to oppose the proclamation was only voicing his personal opinion.
