Residents of five villages in Yabo Local Government Area of Sokoto State got the shock of their lives at the weekend when a wind storm struck and destroyed 110 houses. Presently the residents are still counting their losses, especially in the villages that were completely razed by the raging storm.

The villages razed by the wind storm include Toronkawa, Muza, Zezi, Dagawa and Yabo.

At Zezi village, Vanguard Metro, VM, found out that most of the houses were razed, including the 37-year-old Zezi Primary School, which roof-top was blown off by the storm.

One of the victims of the wind storm who spoke with VM, Wakili Dantudu, 48, said that the wind storm began at about 5pm on Friday, destroying three rooms in his house.
