All is now set for tomorrow's visit by President Goodluck Jonathan to Enugu State for commissioning of the remodeled terminal building of Akanu Ibiam Airport.
The President is also expected to lay the foundation for the construction of the proposed Enugu International Airport.
The remodeled Enugu airport, which was designated two years ago as an international airport, is part of the ongoing rehabilitation and upgrading of airports across the country by the Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. A. C. Nwanganga, said the Enugu State Government is planning an elaborate programme to receive the President.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Amaechi Okolo, expressed appreciation to the President for "the critical and wonderful gestures," adding that the visit would equally afford him the opportunity to interact with the people.
It will be recalled that the President visited the state in December 2011 when he formally unveiled the Akanu-Ibiam airport as an international airport, giving assurance that the Federal Government was committed to upgrading infrastructure at the airport.
