Title: University of Ibadan Jobs: Academic Staff Vacancies

[attachimg=1 align=left] University of Ibadan, Ibadan Nigeria currently requests applications from suitably qualified candidates for the vacant academic positions in the university. The vacancies will be updated according to faculties and departments later on. In the meantime, below are the salary scale and the method of application for all positions to be updated later.

SALARY SCALE

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Applicants should forward their applications and detailed Curriculum Vitae (20 copies) stating: Date of Birth (not Age), Marital Status, State of Origin, L.G.A., Mobile Telephone Number, E-mail Address, Academic Qualifications, Experience in Teaching and Research, Publications (if any) and enclose two sets of photostat copies of relevant Credentials. Applicants should also indicate the names of three Referees and their addresses.

Applications should reach the Deputy Registrar (Establishments) University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, not later than six weeks from the date of this publication. Applicants should also request their referees to send reports on them, under confidential cover, direct to the Deputy Registrar (Establishments) from whom further details may be obtained. 1. FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY

(i) DEPARTMENT OF CROP PROTECTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY

(a) LECTURER II: Entomology

Applicants should possess a good degree in Agriculture and Ph.D degree in Entomology. Specialization in either Ecology or Biology of insects or insect pests of tropical crops is required. Publication(s) in reputable journals will be an added advantage.

(b) LECTURER II: Toxicology

Applicants should possess Ph.D in Toxicology or Environmental Toxicology or Analytical Chemistry or Biochemistry as related to toxicology. Evidence of teaching experience in a recognized University or proof of scholarly publications in reputable journals will be an added advantage.

(ii) DEPARTMENT OF FOREST RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

LECTURER II: Silviculture and Biology

Applicants should possess a good first degree in Forestry as well as a Ph.D degree in Silviculture with competence in ecology and tree physiology/pathology with 2-3 years teaching experience at the University level. In addition, applicant with M.Sc. with relevant teaching experience must have at least two publications in learned journals.


2. FACULTY OF ARTS

DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE ARTS

(a) ARTS FELLOW II

Applicants should possess a good first degree in Theatre Arts and the M.A. Theatre Arts/African Studies from a recognized University with at least 5 years demonstrable practical experience in Drama/Theatre. Media teaching experience at Part I full time level at the University level will be an added advantage.

(b) JUNIOR ARTS FELLOW

Applicants should possess a good First Degree (not lower than a Second Class Upper) in Theatre Arts and the M.A in Theatre Arts from a recognized University with at least 2 years demonstrable experience in Dance in particular and Performance in general.
Applicants who have completed at least a full session in the M.A programme may be considered, provided they have the relevant years of cognate experience.

3. COLLEGE OF MEDICINE

(i) DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY

(a) SENIOR LECTURER

Applicants must possess a good first degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognized University and registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. CMBBS, MB, Bchir, or equivalent and a Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry (FMCPsych. FWACP, or equivalent) is essential. Applicants must have some years of teaching experience and show evidence of scholarship as attested to by publications in academic journals. The possession of higher academic qualifications will be an advantage. Applicants are to indicate one of the following sub-specialties as area of interest: Forensic Psychiatry or Addiction Psychiatry.

(b) JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (Medical Social Work)

Applicants must have at least a Masters degree in Social Work and several years of post- qualification experience in Social Work. This is an academic position in which the successful candidate will provide Teaching and Research services in Clinical Medical Social Work in the department. The candidate must therefore have Social Work experience in a mental health care setting and show evidence of interest in academic pursuit as attested to by academic publications and/or possession of added academic qualifications. Applicants already pursuing higher degrees will have an advantage.

(c) JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (Medical Social Work)

Applicants must have at least a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and several years of post- qualification experience in Clinical Psychology. This is an academic position in which the successful candidate will provide Teaching and Research services in Clinical Psychology in the department. The candidate must therefore have experience in Clinical Psychology Practice in a mental health care setting and show evidence of interest in academic pursuit as attested to by academic publications and/or possession of added academic qualifications. Applicants already pursuing higher degrees will have an advantage.

(ii) DEPARTMENT OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY

LECTURER I

A first degree in Dentistry from a recognized University and registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (BDS or its equivalent). A postgraduate qualification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) or from the National Postgraduate Medical College (FMCDS) or its equivalent.
Applicants must show a flair for research as attested by publications in scientific journals or possession of higher academic degrees.


4. FACULTY OF EDUCATION

(i) DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION

(a) LECTURER I/II: Audiology/Speech Pathology

Applicants must possess Ph.D degree in the field of Audiology and Speech Pathology with at least three (3) years post doctoral working experience in the field. Applicants for the post of Lecturer I must show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals within and outside Nigeria.

(b) LECTURER II: Learning Disabilities

Applicants must possess Ph.D degree in the field of Learning Disabilities. A 2 year - post doctoral experience will be an advantage.

(c) LECTURER II: Mental Retardation

Applicants must possess Ph.D degree in the field of Mental Retardation. A 2 year - post doctoral experience will be an advantage.

(ii) DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT

SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER I

Applicants must possess Ph.D degree in Educational Management with evidence of teaching Educational Statistics and Research Methods at the University Level.
Applicants must also possess a minimum of 3-5 years post-qualification experience at the University level.
Evidence of publication in reputable journals will also be required.

(iii) DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY, ARCHIVAL AND INFORMATION SCIENCE (LARIS)

SENIOR LECTURER

Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in Library Science, Information Science or Computer Science from a recognized University.
Applicants should have at least five years of previous teaching and research experience at the University level and adequate research publications in reputable academic journals in the fields mentioned above.
Applicants who can teach Information Technology courses will be given preference.

8. FACULTY OF SCIENCE

(i) DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY AND MICROBIOLOGY

(a) LECTURER I/II : Algology

Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in Algology.

(b) LECTURER I/II

Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in Plant or Crop Physiology.

(c) LECTURER I/II

Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in Cell Physiology or Molecular Biology of plants.

(d) SENIOR LECTURER: Genetics and Microbial Biotechnology

Applicants should possess Ph.D degree with specialization in Microbial Genetics or Molecular Virology with at least 5 years research experience.

(e) LECTURER I/II: Food and Industrial Microbiology

Applicants should possess a Ph.D degree in Microbiology with specialization in Yeast Physiology or Brewing Microbiology.

(f) LECTURER I/II: Public Health Microbiology

Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in Microbiology or related field with specialization in Public Health or Environmental Health Microbiology including Water and Sewage Treatment and/or Environmental Pollution Abatement.

(ii) DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AREA OF SPECIALIZATION

•   LECTURER II: Analytical/Environmental, Organic, Inorganic, Physical and Industrial

(a) LECTURER II

Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in the relevant field of Chemistry from a reputable University. Previous teaching experience at the University level and evidence of scholarly publications will be advantages.

(b) LECTURER I

•   Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in the relevant field of Chemistry from a reputable University, with at least three (3) years post-qualification experience in research and teaching at the University level.
•   Applicants should also possess evidence of scholarly scientific publications in reputable international and national journals.

(c) SENIOR LECTURER

•   Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in the relevant field of Chemistry from a reputable University with at least six (6) years of research and teaching experience at the University level.
•   Applicants should also possess evidence of substantial scholarly scientific publications in reputable international and national journals.

(iii) DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS

PROFESSOR: Sample Survey

•   Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in Statistics with specialization in Sample Survey plus at least fifteen (15) years of post-doctoral teaching and research experience at the University level.
•   In addition, candidates must have very good research publications in reputable academic journals both within and outside the country. Preference shall be given to applicants who are already Readers in Statistics in recognized Universities.

9. FACULTY OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES

(i) DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY

SENIOR LECTURER

Applicants must possess Ph.D degree in Geography with specialization in (i) Climatology and
(ii) Geomorphology/Hydrology/Water Resources and/or closely related specialization.

Applicants must have a minimum of six (6) years post-Ph.D teaching and research experience at the University level and have publications in peer-reviewed international journals.

(ii) DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

(a) PROFESSOR

•   Applicants should have first degree, Masters and Ph.D degrees in Political Science with specialization in International Relations/Political Economy with at least twelve years post-doctoral University teaching and research experience in the areas.
•   In addition, applicants must have excellent scholarly publications in mainstream journals in Political Economy and have an impressive record in postgraduate supervision. Prospective candidates must be able to provide administrative and academic leadership.

(b) SENIOR LECTURER: Public Administration

•   Applicants should possess first degree, Masters and Ph.D degrees in Political Science or Public Administration.
•   Practical administrative experience and experience in teaching of Election Administration will be an added advantage.

(c) SENIOR LECTURER: Comparative Politics

Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in Political Science with specialization and research interest in Comparative Politics.

DEPARTMENT OF URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNING

LECTURER I/II:                         
       (i) Environmental/Health Planning
       (ii) Urban Design, Recreation Planning, Computer Aided Design

•   Applicants should hold MURP/M.Sc. degree in Urban and Regional Planning and be registered or registerable with the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) and the Town Planners Registration Council (TOPREC).
•   Applicants should also hold Ph.D degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a minimum of 3 years teaching experience at the University level.

10. FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE

(i) DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY MEDICINE

(a) LECTURER I/II: Swine Medicine
LECTURER I

a. Applicants should possess D.V.M, M.V.Sc. and Ph.D degrees or be close to completion of Ph.D programme and currently registered with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN).
b. Applicants are expected to have had a minimum of five-year practical experience in Small and Large Animal, Poultry, Aquatic and Wildlife Medicine as well as Animal Management.
c. Applicants must be able to rotate through any of the units named above whenever required.
d. At least five publications in peer reviewed journal(s) will be required.

LECTURER II

a. Applicants should possess D.V.M, M.V.Sc. and Ph.D degrees or be close to completion of Ph.D programme and currently registered with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN).
b. Applicants are expected to have had a minimum of five-year practical experience in Small and Large Animal, Poultry, Aquatic and Wildlife Medicine as well as Animal Management.
c. Applicants must be able to rotate through any of the units named above whenever required.
d. One or two publications in peer-reviewed journal(s) will be required.

(b) SENIOR LECTURER: Ruminant Medicine

a. Applicants should possess D.V.M, M.V.Sc. and Ph.D degrees or be close to completion of Ph.D programme and currently registered with the Veterinary Council of
Nigeria (VCN).
b. Applicants are expected to have had a minimum of nine year practical experience in Small and Large Animal, Poultry, Aquatic and Wildlife Medicine as well as Animal Management.
c. Applicants must be able to rotate through any of the units named above whenever required.
d. There should be evidence of scholarly publications and leadership in research and at least 10 publications in peer-reviewed journal(s).


(ii) DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PHYSIOLOGY, BIOCHEMISTRY AND PHARMACOLOGY

LECTURER II: Veterinary Physiology

Applicants should possess Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from a recognized University and be registered with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN).
Possession of a Master degree in Physiology and previous teaching experience at the University level will be an advantage.


CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The appointments, which are to commence as soon as possible, are for three years initially (except for those of Professors). They may be extended for specific periods or confirmed to retiring age. Fringe benefits include a Pension Scheme or comparable arrangement as may be approved from time to time by the University Council, residential accommodation or housing allowance at an approved rate and passages for approved Overseas Study Leave.
