The House of Representatives yesterday called for the arrest of the killers of about 15 people in Zangon village in the southern part of Kaduna on Tuesday. In a motion under the matters of urgent national importance moved by Rep Simon Yakubu (PDP, Kaduna), the House called on security agencies to ensure the arrest of the killers, urging the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to urgently provide relief materials for the victims.
Yakuba had informed the House that there has been incessant attacks by armed men in the southern part of Kaduna which resulted in the loss of many lives and property, expressing concern at the way people are killed by gunmen in the area without any concrete action being taken.
"Tuesday's incident left many people injured with monumental destruction of property, while a number of people were displaced and others are still missing.
In adopting the motion, the House observed a minute silence in honour of those killed during the incident."
Following the incessant attacks by unknown gunmen in Southern Kaduna, the State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Adenaike yesterday said the command would embark on aerial patrol with helicopter so as to stop the gunmen from killing innocent people.
According to him, all arrangement have been completed for that operation and that he hope it will help stop the killings happening there.
Speaking to newsmen at the Police headquarters, the Commissioner said the command was doing everything possible to stop the gunmen from having a field day.
" We have already deployed more troops to that area to add to the number of policemen and soldiers already stationed there. Equally we are going to have helicopter patrol there so that whenever they (gunmen) are going to attack they will see them and inform the ground troops to move.
"Inspector General of Police has promised to send us a helicopter.
