Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has described critics of his administration as either being ‘ignorant ‘ of what the administration is doing or are ‘confused’ by the level of success so far recorded by his government. He spoke on Tuesday at Ilara town in Imeko-Afon Local government area of the state while inspecting the extent of work done on the 107 kilometer Ilara-Ijoun-Oja Odan-Ilase road project.
According to him, those criticizing us for doing these roads are either ignorant of what we are doing or they are confused by the level of service delivery we are giving to the people of Ogun state. But we won’t be deterred and we will remain focused on doing what the good people of Ogun State voted us to do.”
Senator Amosun who expressed delight at the level of work done so far on the first phase of the 3-phased project, explained that the road project is the longest project being embarked upon by his administration.
“I laugh when I hear some people say all the road projects are being concentrated in Ogun Central. I laugh because I see they are ignorant of what is going on.This road is 107 kilometers and it is the longest of all the roads we are presently constructing. It cuts across the four local governments in Ogun West. It links Yewa North, Yewa South,Ipokia and of course Imeko. It is only Ado-Odo/Ota that it didn’t touch and we are treating that local government specially. We have Ilo-Awela already there.
“Why we are doing it is to ensure that this area, being the food basket of the state, is opened up. When this road is completed, our farmers wont have problem bringing out their farm produce again. They wont need to go to Abeokuta or Ayetoro again before getting to Ilaro. We can easily link up with Ilaro through Oja –Odan. For me, this road is the most important road of all the roads we are doing as it is going to touch four local governments in Yewaland and impact positively in the lives of the people of this area.
“This administration believes in the holistic of Ogun State. We are ready for the job we were voted to do and by the grace of God we will do a good job of it’
He explained that 50 KM of the road is made up of virgin land while 27KM of the road cuts across towns and villages across the four Local Government Areas like Tobolo, Ilara, Alagbe, Egua, Ijoun, Oja-Odan and Ilase towns.
The governor who had earlier inspected the 7.4 KM Oke-Oyinbo/Idagba road said the Lafenwa to Ayetoro six lanes would equally be done.
He explained that the roads after completion are expected to improve the economic activities in the zone and take advantage of the Yewa axis as the Agriculture belt where all the value chain which agriculture presents is realised.
The project manager of PW Nigeria Limited, Mr Hakan Dal commended the governor for giving the contractor free hands to handle the projects and the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure for challenging it to give the best. He also praised the people of the town for being cooperative and supportive of the construction effort. Dal said the construction of the Ilara/Ijoun/Egua/Oja-Odan/Ilase road which commenced November last year is expected to be completed by May, 2015.

I sense some element of truth in what the governor has said. If there's any bad thing he is doing secretly, trust me, it'll be out in the open soon.
