(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Theodore-orji-1-300x224.jpg) Governor T. A. Orji has inaugurated a 10 man board for the Abia State Oil Minerals Development Commission (ASOPADEC) with a charge that they should do better than their first tenure that was eventful.
Whilst inaugurating the Board at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Umuahia, Chief T.A. Orji asserted that they were reappointed based on their competence and performance and optimism that they will surpass their past achievements.
The Governor noted that ASOPADEC was created by his administration for the development of the oil producing communities and Abia State in general making the Board a reference point.
He said the Board impressed him, having adequately utilised the budgeted resources and worked assiduously because the located projects in all the senatorial zones of the state. He urged them to uphold their integrity and warned that Government will not hesitate to remove anyone found wanting.
In response, the ASOPADEC Chairman, Chief Sam Nwogu thanked the Governor for reappointing them to serve again and assured that they will work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them by complementing the developmental strides of the Governor.
Members of the Board include RT. Hon Emeka Stanley, Chief Peter Aguomba, Dr. Chike Nwanunu, Engr. George Nnanna Kalu, Chief Uche Mpamah, Amb. Luke Uche, Prince F.C. Udensi, Mr. C.C. Onu and Ikechukwu Nwabuko.
In another development, the Governor has dissolved the State's executive council.
Those affected by the dissolution were all the Commissioners, the chief of staff to the Governor (COS), the deputy chief of staff and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
While briefing journalists on the outcome of the week`s EXCO meeting, the outgoing Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Eze Chikamnayo said the dissolution was not based on any ill feeling by the Governor but a normal routine of government aimed at re-engineering the machinery of government.
He said that the affected officers were expected to hand over to thetheir permanent secretaries within one week.
According to him, members of the EXCO thanked the Governor for the opportunity given them to serve, noting that this is the first time in the history of the State that commissioners served for two consecutive uninterrupted years.
The outgoing commissioner also said that it was expected that a new EXCO will be constituted by the Governor in the next few weeks.
