A meeting of the Nigerian Governors Forum which is reported to be holding on Thursday, May 23, 2013, will no longer hold.
Director-General of the NGF, Assisana Okauro, said in a telephone interview in Abuja on Sunday that the May 23 date was speculative.
He explained that no date has been fixed for the forums meeting.
He said, "I only read about it (date) in the media. No date had been fixed for the meeting as we speak. I will let you know if there are any changes."
However, our correspondent gathered in Abuja, that this was sequel to the intensive lobby by opposing groups within the forum over who becomes the next NGF chairman.
A group of governors sympathetic to the current holder of the seat, Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, are battling others who prefer Katsina State governor, Ibrahim Shema.
Governors loyal to President Goodluck Jonathan, who are being led by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, his Benue State counterpart, Gabriel Suswam, and Shema prefer a replacement.
While the governors of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, and his counterparts in Sokoto, Aliyu Wammako, and the Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, prefer Amaechi to return as chairman of the 36-member body.

Well sooner or later the date would be announced and the meeting would finally commence. They all just have to be patient.
