The Governor gave the commendation while receiving the community members of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), during a courtesy call on him at the Governor's Office in Akure.
Dr Mimiko described the step taken by President Goodluck Jonathan as bold, timely and a right step in a right direction, urging Nigerians to support the move by the Nigerian President rather than engaging in criticism of his action, more so that President Jonathan has done it in a civilian way to allow the State executive and the legislative to be in place in the affected States.
The Ondo State Governor who berated those who are criticising what the Federal Government has done, also pointed out that the issue of declaration of state of emergency should not be politicised since it has to do with the lives of the Nigerians which are being wasted everyday by the members of the Boko Haram sect.
According to him, the President needs the prayers of the Nigerians to pilot the ship of the country to a safer harbour, urging the Nigerian citizens to always make constructive criticism of government's policies and programmes and give useful suggestions to the government in the interest of all.
He expressed the belief that by the time Nigeria overcomes the present challenges, the country's economy would witness an unprecedented explosion which would transform and promote the entire country and put in its rightful place in the comity of nations.
The Ondo State Governor who lauded the management and staff of the Federal University of Technology, Akure for recording an enviable success in their academic pursuit among other Universities across the country, also promised that his administration would continue to partner with the Federal institution in the areas of technical education and agricultural production. According to him, partnership with the institution would assist in no small measure in the realization of the job creation agenda of his administration.
Earlier in his address, the leader of the FUTA community team, Barrister Mammud Yahaya, had commended the Ondo State Government for its various contributions to the development of the Federal University of Technology in the State.
He solicited for more of the state government's supports to further move the institution forward and to sustain the present status among the various institutions in the country.
