Former Presidential candidate under the platform of All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) during the 2011 presidential election and former governor of Kano state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, has said that the All Progressive Congress (APC) will discourage money politics and money bags from hijacking the party.
Shekarau a key player in the APC merging process, who revealed this in a media interactive session at his Kano residence yesterday said that politicians who use money to buy votes should have a re-think because that goes contrary to the ideals of APC.He further maintained that none of the merging political parties came with any condition of how positions should be shared amongst them at the level of merging parties.
According to him, "whoever thinks he can come and usurp the people's power and aspiration because he is money bag, should have a rethink.
"No condition was given by any of the merging parties in their coming to form APC. Ours is just to see for the total dethronement of the ruling party.
"And I am assuring you is that we are going to give a serious opposition based on democratic principles.
"The way some people wanted to crush the effort of the APC by forming other APCs was nothing but a crude way of doing it.
Thanks to the National Electoral Commission (INEC) that dwarfed the plot by rejecting the fake APCs.
"As at now nobody has been mentioned as the leader of APC. And nobody has started talking of who contests what. And any contest to come will be base on the criteria of the merging parties.
"We all agreed to be on the same level playing ground, not minding of who has what number of governors or legislators either at the national or state level. We take ourselves as equal. Right from the take-off we said let us forget all the differences."
"Whatever assignment APC assigns to me, I am ready to accept as long as it is done in the proper process and channels," he concurred.
