Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted female hand bags and folders containing 3.860kg of cocaine. The outward appearance of the bags does not indicate any presence of narcotics. It was factory packed as the drugs were found after the bads and folders were cut open. A 28 year old suspect, Osunwa Chukwujekwu who brought the bag from Brazil has also been arrested. The discovery was made within the week during inward screening of Emirate passengers from Brazil at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos.
The suspect according to the NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, Mr Hamza Umar wanted to abandon the bag when he was apprehended. “When Osunwa Chukwujekwu observed the presence of security officials at the arrival hall, he wanted to abandon the luggage. During interrogation it was discovered that he had a luggage. When the bag was identified and searched, 3.860kg of powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine was found hidden inside female handbags and folders” Hamza stated.
Osunwa who sells female hand bags and shoes at Bakasi Market, Aba said that he agreed to smuggle the drug because he needed money to enlarge his business. “I am a trader living in Aba. I was contacted to bring the bag for a fee. Upon my arrival, I was afraid of arrest and wanted to leave the bag at the arrival hall when I was invited for interrogation. In the process, the bag was brought and searched where the drug was found. I smuggled the drug because of money” the suspect stated.
The suspect hails from Uga Village, Agwata Local Government Area of Anambra State. After his graduating from Boys Secondary School, Uga in 2009, he went into business.
Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, Ahmadu Giade warned drug barons to quit the criminal act or their drugs will be detected and seized while they will be prosecuted. “Drug barons have no hiding place. The attempt to abandon the drug is an indication that the environment is not suitable for their operation. The Agency is prepared to detect hidden drugs, seize them and prosecute all persons behind the criminal act. I commend the officers and urge them to remain vigilant at all times” Giade urged.
The suspect will soon be charged to court for unlawful importation of cocaine into the country.

I just hope someday this cocaine carrying of a thing would stop. It is really not making any sense anymore. I hope we see its bad effects.
