Barring unforeseen circumstances, the problem of water shortage in Ogun State will soon be a thing of the past, as the State Government is set to construct a mini power plant at the Iberekodo water booster station. When completed, the power plant will guarantee regular supply of power needed to pump and distribute water to all the nook and crannies of Abeokuta and its environs.
This disclosure was made today by The State Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Olu Odeyemi made this known today in Abeokuta while highlighting his Ministry’s activities and achievements at a ministerial press briefing commemorating the two year anniversary of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun–led administration.
Odeyemi recalled that as part of government’s efforts to entrance socio-economic growth of the State, it had earlier procured 500 units of transformers and had already distributed 356 units, adding that the process of distributing the remaining 144 units was on-going.
The Commissioner encouraged benefitting communities not to leave the responsibility of energizing the transformers to government alone, but come together as an umbrella of Community Development Associations, assuring of government’s support in this direction.
Still speaking on the projects embarked upon by his Ministry, the Commissioner stated that renovation of the June 12 Cultural Centre was done to upgrade it to meeting international standards and to promote rich cultural heritage of the people as well as creating job opportunities for them. He added that a 20-seater capacity hall was also constructed at the office of the wife of the governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun for periodic meetings and workshops. Other projects to be embarked upon by the Ministry of Special Duties include the construction of airport, the highs rail project, a theme park as well as the completion of swimming pool at the games village in Ijebu-Ode, he remarked.
