Title: Ogun State - Don’t offer bribe to secure loan ….Ogun Commissioner warns
Post by: OgunState on May 24, 2013, 01:31 PM
The Ogun Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru has admonished any member of the public interested in assessing the N1b loan jointly floated by State Government and the Bank of Industry not to offer bribe to any government official to process the loan.

Otunba Bimbo gave the advice while addressing members of the State chapter the Nigerian Automobile Technician Association (NATA) who have signified interest in obtaining the loan.

He affirmed that government initiated the loan scheme as part of measures to empower and boost businesses of the people as well as reduce poverty, saying that it would be counter productive to make beneficiaries pay some money before they could access the loan.

“You must not under any circumstance offer money to anybody for the processing of the loan. If anybody demands any money from you, don’t hesitate to report such a person.” Ashiru said.

He implored potential beneficiaries not go through a third party, but rather approach the Ministry directly for proper guidance on modalities for applying for the loan, assuring that government was committed to ensuring that all those who met the criteria and are eligible would benefit without any hindrance.

Speaking at the meeting, the State Chairman of NATA, Comrade Olawale Obadeyi commended the State Government for initiating the loan scheme, pointing out that its members were set to take advantage of it to improve their businesses.

It is never a good thing to offer bribe no matter the situation one might be in. It is a great form of corruption in Nigeria.
