(http://www.channelstv.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Achebes-burial.png)Literary icon; Professor Chinua Achebe was on Thursday buried in his hometown of Ogidi, Anambra state with a funeral service at the St. Philips Anglican Church. President Goodluck Jonathan and his Ghanaian counterpart, John Mahama were some of the guests that attended the church service to pay their last respects to the late writer. The two leaders described Professor Achebe as a man of conviction who never shied away from telling the truth. President Jonathan at the church service promised that the federal government and the Government of Ghana would collaborate to rebuild the St. Philip's Central School, Ogidi, Anambra State, where Prof. Chinua Achebe had his primary education. The literary icon died in Boston, United States last March 21 at the age of 82. Referring to Prof Achebe's last book and memoir which was about the Nigerian civil war; 'There Was A Country', President also promised that he would lead a political and social revolution that would prompt Achebe's children to write another book that would be entitled, 'There Is A Country'.
