Ogun State Commissioner for Physical Planning, Mr Adebayo Faari, has decried non-compliance of planning laws by religious bodies and institutions operating along Lagos/ Ibadan/ Sagamu Expressway.
Mr. Faari disclosed this at the Ministerial Press briefing marking second year anniversary of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led- administration.
He explained that in order to put an end to the ugly trend his agency would continue to educate, enlighten and sensitize the public on the Urban and Regional laws and building regulations relating to development matters.
Faari added that his agency had secured approval from the governor to embark on an amnesty programme around Agbado for illegal developments within government acquisition in order to perfect the title documents of such land and grant planning permit approval under liberalized conditions.
“The Ministry has secured the approval of the Government to embark on an amnesty programme for illegal development within government acquisitions in order to perfect the title documents of such lands and grant planning permit approval under liberalized conditions of approval.”
Speaking on the development control activities, the commissioner submitted that the Ministry during the period under review registered 4,646 and approved 4,129 building plans respectively, while 167 petitions received in which 146 have been successfully concluded.
He maintained that owners of illegal structures and shanties were served 8,000 enforcement notices, about 1,020 were also sanctioned via total or token demolition and sealing.
